The properties of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in galaxies: constraints on PAH sizes, charge and radiation fields

چکیده

Based on theoretical spectra computed using Density Functional Theory we study the properties of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH). In particular bin-average PAH molecules with varying number carbons investigate how intensity mid-infrared emission bands, 3.3, 6.2, 7.7 and 11.3 microns, respond to changes in carbons, charge molecule, hardness radiation field that impinges molecule. We confirm 6.2/7.7 band ratio is a good predictor for size molecule (based present). also efficacy 11.3/3.3 trace note dependence this field. While can potentially be used molecular size, better understanding impact underlying 3.3 microns feature effect extinction should evaluated. The newly developed diagnostics are compared ratios measured variety galaxies observed Infrared Spectrograph board Spitzer Space Telescope. demonstrate probe conditions interstellar medium differentiate between environments encountered normal star forming Active Galactic Nuclei. Our work highlights immense potential observations James Webb Telescope will have our itself physical near far.

Thermochemical properties of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) from G3MP2B3 calculations.

In this article, we present a new database of thermodynamic properties for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). These large aromatic species are formed in very rich premixed flames and in diffusion flames as part of the gas-phase chemistry. PAH are commonly assumed to be the intermediates leading to soot formation. Therefore, accurate prediction of their thermodynamic properties is required ...

Do 16 Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons Represent PAH Air Toxicity?

Estimation of carcinogenic potency based on analysis of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) ranked by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is the most popular approach within scientific and environmental air quality management communities. The majority of PAH monitoring projects have been focused on particle-bound PAHs, ignoring the contribution of gas-phase PAHs to the toxicity of...

Investigating the Presence of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Doogh

Background and purpose: Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are one of the most common environmental pollutants that are proven to be carcinogenic and mutagenic. Doogh, is a widely consumed fermented yoghurt drink in Iran. The aim of this study was to determine the presence and concentration of PAHs in different brands of Doogh in Tehran, Iran. Materials and methods: In this study, we synt...

Biodegradation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Petroleum Contaminated Soils

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are a class of potentially hazardous chemicals of environmental and health concern. PAHs are one of the most prevalent groups of contaminants found in soil. Biodegradation of complex hydrocarbon usually requires the cooperation of more than single specie. In this research biotreatment of PAH (phenanthrene) was studied in a solid-phase reactor using indigenou...
